About Callaghan

Hey folks! My name is Callaghan. My love for music far exceeds any other art form. My parents did a great job at refining my musical palette at a young age. My dad showed me the good classic rock (Eric Clapton, Lou Reed, etc.) that most dads know and love. And mom introduced me to the 80s bands (Talking Heads, B-52s, etc.) that she grew up dancing and partying to. My older brother started playing guitar 11 years ago and I picked up bass guitar fairly recently. Needless to say I’m constantly surrounded by music!

I’ve always had a fascination with weddings ever since attending my first one at the age of 10. It was mostly an older crowd, but I didn’t care. By the end of the night, my legs were spaghetti, I was drenched in sweat, and I was the last one off the dance floor. All of the bridesmaids loved me! It is still to this day one of the best nights of my life.
I’ve been working for a catering company for two years and have served for countless wedding receptions. At one of those wedding receptions, Jake from Amplify Entertainment was DJing. I watched as he selected songs, worked the crowd and fed off of their energy. I realized that I would love to do this! He gave me his business card and I applied as soon as I could. It’s all history from there. It’s a rare thing to be able to make a living doing something you love and enjoy. That’s why I feel that I’ve hit the jackpot with this company! It’s clear from my days of shadowing and watching Amplify Entertainment from the outside that Amplify Entertainment knows exactly how to make your wedding day the best night of your life. It gives me great joy to know that I am now a part of this as an ambassador to a great time for many newlyweds, as well as their friends and families.

Tell us some fun facts, Callaghan!

  • I’m currently studying Philosophy and Editing, Writing and Media at Florida State University
  • Last year I did a solo backpacking trip through Peru for 3 weeks.
  • My childhood diet consisted solely of Red Baron Pizza and chocolate milk.

What is your favorite genre of music?

I’ve gone through many phases, ranging anywhere from ’90s hip hop to Motown. Currently, my favorite genre is ska which I describe as upbeat beach music. As a native to St. Petersburg, Florida, ska definitely hits close to home.

What has been your favorite live performance?

I’ve seen the Avett Brothers three times. Most recently, I saw them at Shaky Knees music festival in Atlanta. Most of their music has a minor key, slow and folky feel to it, but surprisingly they came out and rocked the crowd harder than I’ve ever seen!

What do you like to do in your free time?

When not working or studying, my absolute favorite thing to do is go to concerts. When not at concerts, I enjoy camping, rock climbing, slack lining and just about any other outdoor activities.
