When I first met with Matt and Lance, they described their vision for their wedding day at the Space at Feather Oaks in Tallahassee as "classy, but understated, intimate, fun, and energetic." We talked about their desire to get the best of both worlds: a live DJ and live musicians. They ended up booking one of our violinists and one of our guitarists for their wedding ceremony (where we also provided a wireless mic for the officiant), one of our saxophonists for their cocktail hour and a DJ (they reserved me to be their DJ) for the remainder of evening. I can't remember if it was their idea or their planner's (Shannon from Table 6 Productions), but we all loved the idea that was brought up of having a "social saxophone player" for cocktail hour. The idea was to have the sax player walk around in the areas where guests were gathering to provide mobile music, rather than the traditional method of remaining in one location. Phillip, our saxophonist, nailed it perfectly and was a big hit! The guitarist/violinist duo of Nick and Kyle performed elegantly for the ceremony prelude music and ceremony itself.

The wedding had a more intimate guest count of about 40 guests, close friends and family of the grooms. But the smaller numbers didn't affect the energy one bit and guests danced the night away with Matt and Lance! The overall favorite genre of the grooms and their guests was definitely late 80s/early 90s rap/hip hop (think songs like "It's Tricky," "Gonna Make You Sweat," "It Takes Two," "Jump Around," etc.), and they loved dancing to these songs!

We also used a custom-designed monogram (check out the gallery above to see it) and they choose a nice blue color for their uplighting. Everything came together perfectly to complete the "classy, but understated" vision they were going for. The decor was very elegant and unique, but yet not overdone. Logistically, the event was flawless and it was a wonderful wedding day that was topped off with the grooms dancing to "Faith" by George Michael as their guests surrounded them, dancing and singing along. It was an awesome wedding, full of energy and good times, and our team was thrilled to be a part of celebrating with Matt and Lance!
