About

The Ribault Club is a historic waterfront mansion wedding venue nestled on Fort George Island in Jacksonville, Florida. Built in 1928 and beautifully restored to its former grandeur, this 16,000-square-foot clubhouse exudes timeless Old Florida elegance. It sits on a 100-acre coastal parkland surrounded by majestic oak trees draped in Spanish moss and fronted by scenic views of the Fort George River and Talbot Island. As a former luxury resort club, the venue combines vintage neoclassical charm – think fluted pilasters, arched doorways, terrazzo floors, and 36 sets of French doors – with modern comforts like air conditioning and updated facilities. The result is an atmosphere that feels exclusive yet unpretentious, offering a memorable setting for weddings that blend historic charm with natural beauty.

The Ribault Club boasts a versatile U-shaped layout with both indoor and outdoor event spaces to suit a variety of wedding styles. Indoor celebrations unfold in the Grand Ballroom and adjoining salons, which feature 12-foot ceilings and abundant natural light. These refined rooms can accommodate up to approximately 190 seated guests (or 350+ when combining spaces) for dinner and even more for a cocktail-style reception. For more intimate gatherings, smaller historic rooms like the North and South salons or the Dining Room can be utilized separately. A highlight of the clubhouse is the 500-square-foot covered veranda at its center, accessed through French doors, which provides an airy, semi-outdoor space ideal for cocktail hour or lounge seating. Outside, the expansive lawns and grounds offer a picture-perfect ceremony spot beneath sprawling oak branches with the river as your backdrop. Whether you choose to say “I do” under the oak canopy or inside the stately mansion, the property provides a built-in rain plan and flexibility to ensure your day goes off without a hitch. Couples have the option to rent the full facility for exclusive use, enabling a flow from a romantic outdoor ceremony to an indoor dinner and dancing, with plenty of room for up to 400 guests to mingle and celebrate!

Hosting your wedding at The Ribault Club feels like a private destination retreat while still being in Jacksonville. As you drive beneath the canopy of live oaks and arrive at this secluded state park venue, you and your guests are greeted by a sense of Southern grace and tranquility. We’ve witnessed firsthand how the venue’s combination of waterfront sunsets, historic architecture, and lush greenery creates a magical backdrop for celebrations. By day, natural light pours into the Club’s many windows, perfect for gorgeous photos in and around the house. By night, the grounds come alive with soft uplighting among the oak trees and a warm glow emanating from the clubhouse – an absolutely stunning scene for evening festivities. The Ribault Club offers a blend of historic charm, natural beauty, and thoughtful amenities that consistently leave guests in awe and weddings running smoothly. It’s a venue that truly delivers a memorable experience for all in attendance.

Insider Tips

  • Ceremony Under the Oaks: Take advantage of the breathtaking oak-shaded lawn for your ceremony. It’s one of the Ribault Club’s signature spots – exchanging vows beneath those majestic trees with the waterfront in view is unforgettable.

  • Golden Hour Photos: Schedule time around sunset for photos on the grounds. The property’s riverfront setting and 36 French doors create stunning backdrops when the light is soft. We’ve seen couples get incredible golden-hour shots by the water’s edge and in front of the glowing clubhouse – you won’t want to miss that magical lighting for your portraits.

  • Enjoy the Suites: Plan to get ready on-site in the private bridal suite and groom’s Suite. Arriving early and using these rooms will make your day less stressful (no rushing from one location to another) and you’ll have everything you need right at hand. These suites are comfortable and photogenic – your photographer can capture special “getting ready” moments with the elegant vintage details of the venue in the background.

  • Plan Guest Transportation: Since the Ribault Club is tucked away in a state park setting on Fort George Island, consider arranging transportation or shuttles for your guests, or at least provide very clear driving directions. The secluded location is part of its charm, but the roads can be a bit dark at night and GPS can occasionally be unreliable in the area. Ensuring guests know exactly how to get there (and get home safely) will make the evening worry-free.

  • Outdoor Ambiance and Comfort: If you’re planning an outdoor cocktail hour or even an open-air dance floor under the stars, the Ribault Club’s grounds can accommodate it beautifully. Just be mindful of the season – in summer months, lighting some citronella candles or providing bug spray can help keep any mosquitos at bay so your guests stay comfortable. In cooler months, consider portable heaters or a fire-pit lounge area on the patio to keep the cozy vibe going.
