About
The White Room’s Rooftop offers a one-of-a-kind ceremony space with panoramic views of St. Augustine’s bayfront at sunset. As St. Augustine’s only private waterfront venue in the historic district, the White Room delivers romantic Old-Florida charm paired with modern amenities. This award-winning venue is beloved for its breathtaking views, original 1888 brick walls, hardwood floors, and grand draped ceilings. Couples can host anything from an intimate ceremony to a grand reception here – the venue can accommodate gatherings from 50 up to 400 guests comfortably (250 max seated, 400 max standing, depending on the venue).
Established in 2006 in a beautifully restored 19th-century building, The White Room offers three distinct event spaces under one roof. The classic Grand Ballroom on the second floor features an elegant mahogany bar, wrap-around windows with water views, and stately white columns – a perfect backdrop for dinner and dancing. Upstairs, the Loft & Rooftop space combines an indoor loft with exposed brick and wood beams, plus an open-air rooftop terrace overlooking the Matanzas River. This versatile setup allows for scenic rooftop ceremonies or cocktail hours with a view, followed by indoor celebrations in the loft. For those seeking an airy chapel ambiance, the Villa Blanca is The White Room’s ground-floor space: an intimate all-white room with vaulted ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and tons of natural light. Many couples choose to exchange vows in the Villa Blanca’s bright, romantic setting and then transition to the upstairs ballroom or loft for their reception.
Beyond its gorgeous spaces, The White Room is a full-service venue with in-house catering and event coordination. All cuisine is prepared on-site by executive chefs and served fresh from oven to table, earning rave reviews from guests. The venue’s experienced event managers assist with planning details from menu creation to floor plans to the grand exit, ensuring a seamless, stress-free experience for couples. The White Room truly provides an elegant, turnkey wedding experience in the heart of historic St. Augustine, allowing you to enjoy your big day while they handle the details.

Insider Tips
-
Time the Rooftop for Golden Hour: If you’re planning a rooftop ceremony or photos, aim for sunset timing. The panoramic water views from The White Room’s rooftop are especially stunning at dusk. Golden hour light over the bay and historic skyline makes for magical photos, so coordinate with your photographer and DJ to pause for a few sunset shots.
-
Have a Weather Backup Plan: St. Augustine’s weather can be unpredictable, but The White Room has you covered. If you schedule an outdoor rooftop ceremony, the team can swiftly move it into the indoor Loft space in case of rain or high winds -- we’ve seen this live! Always discuss a contingency plan with the venue’s coordinators, especially for rooftop events.
-
Use Each Space to Maximize Flow: One benefit of The White Room is its multiple event areas. We recommend holding your ceremony in the Villa Blanca or on the Rooftop, then transitioning to the Grand Ballroom or Loft for the reception. This allows the staff to set up your reception privately while guests are at the ceremony, resulting in a grand “reveal” of the reception space and no downtime for room flip. It also gives your guests a change of scenery and fully utilizes all the venue has to offer.
-
Plan for the Parking Situation: Be aware that there is no designated parking and be sure to communicate this with your guests so they can start the parking process early, which is always a little challenging in the Historic District. There is also a trolley service for guests from designated parking areas. Take advantage of this! Consider renting the trolley or advising guests to park at the nearby city garage and hop on the shuttle. It will save everyone the stress of searching for spots on busy weekends, and your bridal party can even enjoy a fun trolley ride to the venue.
-
Enhance the Ambiance with Lighting: The White Room’s historic interior is beautiful on its own, but the right lighting can make it truly enchanting at night. We suggest adding our Majestic Uplighting to accentuate the brick walls and columns in the ballroom. The Loft’s exposed brick and the Villa Blanca’s white walls both take lighting effects very well. In our experience, a soft amber or pink uplight in the ballroom, and twinkle lights on the rooftop pergola, can add warmth and romance that look great in photos (and on the dance floor!).
-
Take Advantage of the Suites: The White Room provides private getting-ready spaces for both sides of the wedding party. The Bridal Suite is a spacious, light-filled room perfect for hair, makeup, and pre-ceremony portraits, and the Groom’s Suite (often called “The Study”) gives the guys a place to relax and prep on-site. We recommend arriving early and using these suites – you’ll avoid transportation logistics and can share a toast with your crew right at the venue. Plus, the photo ops are great: the bridal suite’s vintage décor and the groom’s suite’s balcony (hello, cool group shots!) add character to your getting-ready pics.

Plan a Grand Exit in Downtown Style: End the night with a bang – many couples at The White Room opt for a sparkler send-off on the quaint brick street outside the venue. Not only is this permitted (sparklers are allowed outside the building), it’s highly recommended for the unforgettable photos! Talk to your photographer and the venue coordinator about the best spot (usually on adjacent Treasury Street or the courtyard) to line up guests with sparklers. As the DJs, we love announcing a last dance and then ushering everyone outside for a festive finale. The combination of glowing sparklers against St. Augustine’s historic backdrop is pure magic – a perfect ending for your wedding in St. Augustine!
