Tucked away on the edge of the SouthWood neighborhood of Tallahassee and nestled among beautiful oak trees, the Ball House & Cottages is a restored historical property originally built in 1865. The pristine grounds and five guest cottages are the perfect retreat after a night of partying at your wedding before jetting off to your honeymoon.

The most common set-up at the Ball House is a wedding ceremony in the front of the house, a cocktail hour just inside, and reception out back in between the house and the cottages. Some couples will flip those, and either option provides a stunning backdrop in a magnificent setting. On-site-but-out-of-site parking ensures every photo can capture those epic moments at the ceremony and reception.

• The Ball House is one of the local venues where we recommend our clients book three systems (instead of two) when reserving us for both ceremony and reception. That way, you can ensure that your guests are enjoying the perfect soundtrack to your wedding at the right volumes, whether it's out front for the ceremony, inside the house at cocktail hour, or out back for the reception and party. Another great fit that is popular here is to have one or two live musicians cover the music inside during cocktail hour in place of a third system.

• Live musicians can also provide an elegant addition to a wedding ceremony. Popular options include a string duo (violin + cello), a string trio (violin + cello + viola), a string duo + keyboardist (our musicians perfectly covered an instrumental version of Baby I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney here recently), or a violin + guitar (another very popular option among our clients here).
  
  
• As with any outdoor reception on grass, we highly recommend a dance floor and subfloor. We have lots of options that perfectly complement the natural beauty of the Ball House (like our Dark Maple style) or add a nice pop (like our Checkerboard style). • Did you know: The majestic oaks here are so big that we can project our Custom Monogram Lighting on them! There is one in particular that you walk by on your way from the Ball House to the reception that's perfect for adding that personal touch for your wedding day. We also place it inside the house during cocktail hour as a great alternative.
